The humble lever arch file is a folder/binder with a mechanism inside with two bars on which to punch and store documents and papers. The mechanism has a lever which is moved in an upwards direction in order to release the clasp so that papers can be easily removed or more put in. It differs from a ring binder as generally it has a larger capacity and it has the lever release which a ring binder does not have. Its function is to store papers and documents which are easily accessible due to this type of mechanism.
