re.think Sustainable Services

1. Waste Packaging Recycling and Reuse Scheme

The waste packaging recycling and reuse scheme is a cornerstone of the re.think programme, designed to make disposing of unwanted packaging simple, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible.

To maximise recycling efficiency, waste packaging is separated into four key material streams:

  • Cardboard and Paper (RCY-01): Includes cardboard, catalogues, and brochures.
  • Plastic Packaging and Shrink Wrap (RCY-02): Covers plastic wraps, shrink wrap, bubble wrap, chair bags, and blue foam edge protectors.
  • Foam Pedestal Corners (RCY-03): Foam corner protectors from pedestal packaging.
  • Wooden Corner Packaging (RCY-04): Heavy-duty MFC and cardboard corner protection from furniture.

This scheme ensures packaging materials are recycled correctly and efficiently, helping our customers meet sustainability goals with ease.


2. Furniture Recycling

Every year, over 1.2 million office desks and 1.8 million office chairs end up in landfill, making furniture disposal a significant environmental challenge (according to WRAP). The re.think Furniture Recycling programme addresses this issue by offering a nationwide collection and recycling service for old or unwanted furniture.

Whether collecting from your warehouse or directly from your customer during new furniture delivery, we handle the entire process to ensure furniture is stripped, segregated, and recycled responsibly, avoiding landfill entirely. This seamless service not only reduces waste but also cuts the cost typically associated with waste management.

For optimal recycling, each item is dismantled and its materials are separated as follows:

  • Wood: Segregated for various recycling methods. Some is sent to off-site biomass burners to generate green energy, while the rest fuels our on-site biomass burner, heating our factories.
  • Metal: Steel and aluminium components are separated and recycled indefinitely.
  • Plastics: Using ISO11469:2016 coding, plastics are sorted, processed into pellets, and repurposed for new products.
  • Fabric: Separated into vinyl, synthetic, and wool. Wool is returned to suppliers in a closed-loop recycling system, while other fabrics are processed for reuse.
  • Foam: Foam is returned to suppliers via a closed-loop system for reintegration into the manufacturing process, with non-recyclable foam disposed of responsibly.

3. Furniture Remanufacturing

Innovation is key to combating climate change, and our re.manufacturing service embodies this spirit by giving old furniture a second life. Through state-of-the-art facilities, we transform end-of-life furniture into rejuvenated, high-quality products, diverting them from landfill.

This bespoke service includes:

  • Desk Resizing: Custom resizing to meet evolving needs.
  • Pedestal to Locker Conversion: Transforming storage solutions.
  • Re-upholstering: Chairs, sofas, and booths are cleaned, refurbished, and quality-checked.

Every remanufacturing project is handled with care, ensuring tailored solutions for each customer’s unique requirements.
