Hands in the Work Place

Hands are vulnerable to a wide range of hazards in the work place including: cuts, bloes, chemical attacks and extreme temperatures.  With new industry manufacturing and handling processes involving these hazards, there is a growing need for the use of "job fitted" gloves that meets each user's specifice requirements.

Hand Protection Legislation

The general requirements of the European Protective Equipment Directive, 89/686/EEC, have been in force since 1995.  This directive requires all protective gloves to be CE marked.  The format of the CE mark depends on the category that applies to the glove.

Category 1 - Simple Design
Provides protection for minimal risk only - for use in areas where the risk is low and where effects of not wearing hand protection are easily reversible or superficial.

Category 2 - Intermediate Design
Covers other risks that are not defined by categories 1 and 3

Category 3 - Complex Design
Gloves that protect against risks that could result in irreversible injury or mortal danger
