Stay legal - fire exit signs
Clearly identify escape routes to comply with current legislation. A personal emergency egress plan may be needed for each disabled person within the organisation. Those people who have a responsibility to assist in case of fire must know the details of the plan by heart.
To assess your requirement, walk along all possible emergency exit routes from your premises. Note any changes in direction or floor level; at each of these points you need to place a fire exit sign indicating the direction that should be taken. When people are out of your premises, they must know where their emergency assembly point is.
Direction signs must by law include the running man symbol, be positioned so as to indicate all escape routes and be large enough to be seen from the furthest point within the room. Signage can be subject to change to ensure compliance with any legislation changes and improvements.
